Community Heroes in Action

Our Tata philosophy has always centred around giving back to the communities where we operate. This is why we made the decision to give our employees 2 personal volunteering days, to go and support causes close to their hearts and 2 corporate volunteering days to go out as teams to support the organisations that work closely with our business.

The ways in which we give back look different across the globe, but here are some of our highlights over the past year:

Community Heroes in Action

UK

Our UK team have taken part in a whole host of activities over the past year, from helping out at the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, to delivering food with FareShare, and supporting Age UK with tech expertise. We also joined forces for a group volunteering day supporting our local Lions’ Urban Farm, to help grow fruit and veg for the local community of Greenford.

Alongside volunteering efforts, our UK employees have proudly chosen Mind as their Charity Partner of the Year. Mind is dedicated to supporting mental health across England and Wales, offering helplines, online information and peer support services that empower anyone facing mental health challenges.

During Mental Health Awareness Week in May, we hosted a wide range of activities to shine a light on mental health awareness. From gardening to group walks to blood testing, our Mental Health Awareness week was filled with meaningful moments and positive energy.

Over at our factory in Eaglescliffe, the team have supported Andy’s Man Club since December 2024, a men’s suicide prevention charity. Through fundraising efforts and donating tea to their 306 clubs, we are helping to create moments where men can connect and have an open and honest chat over a comforting brew.

Canada

Our finance team in Canada put aside their spreadsheets and rolled up their sleeves to support two incredible food banks - The Community Care of West Niagara, where they helped to support the local community by packaging up the food hampers, and the Daily Bread Food Bank where they spent an afternoon sorting carrots!

Back in April, the team supported Tim Hortons, icing thousands of chocolate chunk cookies with pink and blue smiles for their annual Smile Cookie Week. During this week, 100% of proceeds from sales went towards supporting over 600 local charities and community groups, chosen by Tim Hortons restaurant owners.

In partnership with Tata Sons North America and First Book Canada the team took part in a reading celebration in Toronto. Members of our team were proud to participate in the event which welcomed approximately 100 students and gifted each child a brand-new book to take home - igniting imaginations and fostering a lifelong love of reading.

USA

In New Jersey, our employees paid a visit to Jaguar Landrover’s US HQ alongside other Tata businesses to support First Book in the annual Tata Truck of Books drive. Tata volunteers, along with their friends and families, helped unload, arrange, and categorise 35,000 books to be distributed to Title 1 schools in the tri-state area.

Volunteering didn’t stop there, the team also rolled up their sleeves at Freshroot Farms in Mahwah, spending the day weeding and planting in support of MEVO (Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organisation, Inc.). MEVO is an environmental not-for-profit organisation dedicated to transforming suburban communities through sustainability projects in Northern New Jersey.

Meanwhile, our Organic India team made a meaningful contribution at Hope Pantry in Boulder, Colorado – an inclusive food pantry that offers free groceries to those in need. The team helped restock and organise food items. Hope Pantry is the only food pantry in Boulder that serves everyone who comes to its door, bridging gaps that other services are often unable to offer.

Australia

For the past three years, our team in Australia has proudly partnered with Foodbank to help pack over 10,000 meals annually for individuals and families in need. Food insecurity is a pressing issue globally, so we rely on organisations like Foodbank to play an essential role in bridging the gap between surplus food supply and urgent community need.

In addition to volunteering, we also support Foodbank through donations, this year alone, we contributed over 5,100 cartons of Tetley tea to their charity partners and community programs across Australia.

Community Heroes in Action

Poland

In Poland, the team supported the John Paul II Hospice in Zgierz in their winter campaign, distributing over 3000 boxes of its special Vitax Collection of teas. The initiative collects tea for the elderly, bringing people together through the cold autumn and winter months. A simple but beautiful gesture to share comfort through tea.
